Sarasota Bradenton International Airport Excited with United Airlines Return
Sarasota / Bradenton, Monday, November 5, 2012. Yesterday the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority enjoyed the return of United Airlines with daily nonstop service between Chicago and SRQ.
According to Visit Florida 2010 data, the tourism spend generated by every domestic visitor to Florida is $1889. This new service is estimated to generate $169,000 per arriving flight and over $61 million in economic impact annually.
SRQ Board Chairman, Carlos Beruff stated, “We are delighted with the return of United, the world’s largest airline to SRQ. Chicago is our second largest market behind New York City and it wasn’t a big surprise that both the arrival and the departure were full yesterday. O’Hare (ORD) is the preferred airport for travelers going to Chicago and connects travelers to another 150 destinations serviced worldwide by United. We are excited about the confidence United has placed in our community and we believe this new service will lead to future expansion opportunities. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with United.”
, Vern Buchanan commented “Today is an exciting day for Southwest Florida and the Sarasota -Bradenton International Airport. This is a tremendous opportunity that will bring tourists and business to our beautiful beaches and local economy. Congratulations to Rick Piccolo for his hard work and dedication which will benefit the airport and the people of our region.”
